For pre-CNY spring cleaning, choose the bulky furniture that needs to go and secure collection alongside your replacement deliveries and guest plans. Chinese New Year begins on Saturday, 6 February 2027. Use the weeks ahead to sort, offer usable pieces and book the removal.
The countdown below is a household plan, not a town council deadline. It leaves room for a buyer who changes their mind or a delivery that moves. You do not need to replace a perfectly useful cabinet just because a new year is coming.
Send photos of the items, your floor and the collection route for a fixed quote.

A bulky-item collection needs to fit your calendar, the collector's and sometimes the building's. Add a new sofa delivery and a family gathering, and “any time this week” becomes one very specific afternoon.
For example, if your replacement sofa arrives Friday and guests come Saturday, Friday morning is doing a lot of work. Start with more than one possible collection date. A general opening-hours notice does not reserve any of them.
Get the provider's current holiday schedule and an accepted appointment. Town council festive arrangements also need a fresh check; last year's notice is not this year's booking. Save the collection details with your other household appointments so you can see where the dates overlap.
Four weeks before: decide what actually needs to go
Walk through the living room, bedrooms, dining area and storage spaces. Start with the worn armchair, unused cabinet or spare bed you are considering replacing. Photograph each piece where it stands, then open its storage compartments and sort the contents separately.
Say the spare bed is going but its storage base holds your festive table linen. Put those belongings in the keep group now. The bed's disposal photo should not be the first time someone remembers what is inside.
Check condition and disclose damage when offering furniture. Our household furniture guide covers preparation, while NEA's reuse directory gives you places to start enquiries. Mark an item as a pending donation until a recipient accepts it and collection is arranged.
Measure the intended space for replacements. If your only dining table is leaving, plan where meals will happen in the gap. Disposal and delivery are separate bookings, even when they are both helping you solve the same space problem.
Two weeks before: turn the list into appointments
Review every sale and donation enquiry. For accepted items, settle the pickup time and who carries them out. Put unanswered messages back in the pending group and set your own cutoff date for switching to disposal.
A buyer who writes “interested” has not cleared your hallway. Tell the disposal provider which items are definite and which may still join the load. That gives you a workable fallback without pretending the uncertainty has gone away.
For an HDB flat, use our bulky-item removal directory to find your council and check its current instructions. Give your actual items and dates, including the festive period. Furniture at a neighbour's void deck does not establish where you may put yours.
For a condo, use the condo checklist to settle the lift, loading route and permitted window with management. Pass those details to the collector. Keep any building approval with the booking message, ready to show on the day.
The last week: prepare the agreed load
Work from the final item list. Empty drawers and storage bases, set aside valuables and clear light belongings from the route. Get the collector's instructions for loose shelves or drawers, and stick to the agreed dismantling plan. A partly collapsed cabinet is not festive progress.
Walk from each item to the exit. Point out narrow turns or anything that needs assessing, and leave the passage usable for your household. Keep furniture out of a waiting pile in the shared corridor. Follow the placement instructions and timing for your accepted collection.
Check replacement deliveries separately. If the new sofa slips to the following week, decide whether you can live without the old one. Tell the disposal provider promptly if you need to change the date, and keep the existing arrangement clear until a revised slot is accepted.
What if the preferred collection date is full?
Get the next available slot and work out whether the furniture can stay safely inside until then. You might clear non-essential pieces first and leave the final item for another visit. Get the scope and quote for that arrangement rather than treating one booking as two.
Say the cabinet was meant to go to a buyer, but the buyer cancels after your sofa collection is booked. Send the cabinet photo and updated item count. The collector needs to accept the extra piece; it cannot simply appear beside the sofa on collection day.
For an urgent request, our same-day guide lists the details to send. An enquiry still needs an accepted slot. Keep the furniture inside while you arrange it, rather than moving the problem to a common area.

List televisions, laptops and appliances separately from cabinets and chairs. Use NEA's e-waste routes to find a suitable option for each device and check acceptance ahead of the trip.
If a fridge or washing machine is being replaced, our appliance guide covers the collection discussion with the retailer or collector. Identify disconnection, wall-mount removal and data preparation as separate tasks. A furniture booking does not automatically take care of them.
Finish with a clear room, not a bigger to-do pile
Use this final walkthrough after collection:
- Load: every agreed piece has left, including loose shelves and panels.
- Keep items: belongings from drawers and storage bases are back where you want them.
- Delivery: the replacement has a clear space and its own accepted appointment.
- Cleaning: the area behind the removed furniture is ready to clean.
- Pending items: anything waiting for another collection remains safely inside.
Clean the newly open space instead of repeatedly shifting a heavy piece to reach behind it. Choose dates that fit your household's celebrations and responsibilities; this schedule does not depend on a cultural rule.
For Bulky Buddy disposal, send photos on WhatsApp with your floor, access details and preferred dates. We use the agreed item list to give you a fixed all-in quote. Start while there is room in your calendar to make the pieces fit.
